Quick Facts
- Inherently flame resistant so the FR characteristics never wash out
- Colorfastness that is inherent in the fiber so it will not fade
- Best weight-to-protection ratio on the market
GlenGuard fabrics are inherently flame resistant, made from a unique blend of Kermel® aramid and modacrylic fibers that surpass government safety standards while remaining comfortable to wear and looking untouched. Glenguard has been extensively tested with simulated flash fire performed by independent researches at North Carolina State University and University of Alberta, Canada. These are controlled environment tests that produce a flash fire targeted at the fabric. Using software, researchers are able to measure the extent of the second and third degree burns to determine a fabric’s protection ability. The results from these tests establish GlenGuard as the superior FR fabric in the industry per ounce of fabric. When it comes down to it, the bottom line is the lower the body burn the higher the chance of survival
Embedded within the Kermel® fibers is excellent chemical resistance. This foundation insures that the garments will be durable and easy to maintain. Therefore, GlenGuard garments provide a good structure for chemical and acid resistance. A three week trial by a Certified Training Safety and Environmental Specialist placed a GlenGuard garment within a 50% sulphuric and spent acid the garment was laundered and showed no signs of wear and tear. Thus, GlenGuard does not only provide excellent safety amongst extreme heat and fire, but it has also proven to be resistant against chemicals
Care and Maintenance
GlenGuard FR garments can be industrially or home laundered, they should be removed from the washing machine and dried in a gas tumble dryer set on medium/permanent press with a drying/exhaust temperature of 155°F. Do not over dry
