Inherent FR Fabric
Garments of NOMEX® can be washed and dried by any conventional home method, followed by hand ironing if necessary. No special technology is needed for home laundering garments of NOMEX®. However, home procedures may not remove the last traces of very heavy, widespread or ground-in soils, which may be flammable and could adversely affect the thermal protective performance of garments of NOMEX®. If home laundering does not remove contaminants or contaminant build-up, garments can be periodically dry cleaned or commercially laundered. When garments are contaminated by hazardous materials, only commercial or on-site laundering or dry cleaning should be used with the appropriate wastewater treatment techniques.
- Every single Polartec® fabric can be machine-washed cold and line dried
- 100% polyester: Machine wash warm (105F, 40°C), tumble dry low. Blends of polyester, nylon, polypropylene, wool, and/or spandex, or where garment care instructions indicate: Cold wash (8°5F, 30°C), line dry.
- Next-to-Skin fabrics Polartec® Power Dry® and Polartec® Power Stretch® rely upon mechanical wicking to pull moisture away from the skin. Using too much detergent in the wash cycle or fabric softener in the dry cycle can inhibit the wicking action. Be sure to use light detergent that rinses completely clean and avoid fabric softeners for these fabrics.
Garments made from TenCate Tecasafe® Plus fabric may be safely dry-cleaned or laundered/dried in home or industrial type machinery. This fabric dries rapidly, for minimal shrinkage please do not over dry.

Treated FR Fabric
UltraSoft®, Indura® and Westex® DH brand fabrics have been designed to withstand the most rigorous industrial laundering conditions anticipated for proper cleaning of work clothing. Westex guarantees the flame resistance of UltraSoft®, Indura® and Westex® DH fabrics for the useful life of such garments when proper care procedures are employed. It’s important to recognize that the thermal protective properties of any flame resistant fabric can be compromised by the presence of contaminants in the fabric from which the garment is made.
Garments made with Protect® FR Fabrics can be laundered and dried at home with regular household methods. If required the following garments can be ironed, and the fabric will not lose its Flame-Resistant Properties. No special technology is needed for home laundering garments of Protect®. However, it is important to note when washing at home to thoroughly clean and remove all stains, as some stains can be traces of flammable material. For that reason, if difficult stains remain, it is recommended to wash garments periodically at a professional laundering service. When garments are contaminated by hazardous materials, only commercial or on-site laundering or dry cleaning should be used with the appropriate wastewater treatment techniques.
